New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a government of India public sector entity, has achieved a significant milestone by completing the electrification of Lakhimpur - Bankeyganj section. Railway electrification of Lakhimpur-Bankeyganj section is a part of the RE project of Daliganj-Mailani-Kasganj single line section on 25 KV, 50Hz of North Eastern Railway. This project was sanctioned in 2017 by the Railway Board.
All the works were jointly checked with division like joint signal checking for the sighting of signals and mast distances from signals, joint height gauge checking. In keeping with the parameters, all SEDs and ATDs were jointly checked.
According to an official statement, clearances were also checked at each location of Girder Bridge. Values adherence of the earth electrodes was highly appreciated. Haulage of passengers, as well as goods, trains using electric traction raises the efficiency of rail transport while enabling cost-saving due on foreign exchange by reducing diesel consumption.
RVNL has also completed the railway electrification of Palakkodu-Sivadi. The commissioning of the section from Palakkodu to Sivadi further facilitates hauling of trains particularly goods trains with AC traction from Bengaluru to Dharmapuri. Electrification enables increase in speed of trains, eliminates costs of high speed diesel consumption enabling savings in foreign exchange. /BI/
